The 13th Busan International Comedy Festival (BICF) Opens on August 29!

The most powerful comedy performances to make Korea laugh will unfold in Busan!

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that the “13th Busan International Comedy Festival (BICF)” will be held across the city, centered around the BEXCO Auditorium, from August 29 to September 7.

The opening ceremony will take place on August 29 at 7 p.m. at the BEXCO Auditorium, hosted by comedian Park Myung-soo, with domestic and international artists joining to light up the stage.

Approximately 3,000 people, including Mayor Park Heong-joon, BICF Executive Committee Chair Kim Junho, and citizens, are expected to attend.

The ceremony will feature:

• ●A celebratory LED media performance by “Saengdonggam Crew”

• ●A performance by Lee Myunghwa (known as Lal Lal), winner of the “Comedy YouTube Awards”

• ●A show by “Bunk Puppet” from the United States

• ●A special opening performance by the cast of “Gag Concert,” Korea’s iconic comedy program

This year’s BICF will present a wide range of performances and programs to audiences across Busan, including the BEXCO Auditorium and Haeundae Gunam-ro.

• ●“Manzai Assemble @BICF,” a hilarious parade of comedy duos

• ●“Seoul Comedy All Stars,” showcasing the most candid and powerful wit

• ●“Comedy Society,” a collaborative performance delivering explosive laughter

• ●A new and immersive edition of “Gag Concert,” offering fresh content not seen on TV

In addition, a new program, the “Comedy Book Concert,” will be held at Dongseo University’s Design Idea Lab. Comedians such as Jun Yoo-sung and Lee Hong-ryeol, who have published books, will engage in conversation with the audience and hold book-signing sessions for an entertaining experience.

Other side events such as “Comedy Street” and “Comedy Open Concert” have also been prepared. Anyone interested in comedy can participate free of charge.

• ●“Comedy Street” will be staged from September 4 to 7 along Haeundae Gunam-ro, featuring comic street performances by indie teams.

• ●“Comedy Open Concert” will deliver performances directly to the audience, taking place at Yura-ri Square in Jung-gu on September 2, the 53rd Division on September 3, and Baekyang Cultural Arts Center in Busanjin-gu on September 6.

As a pre-event, “Comedy School Attack” visited Myungho Middle School on July 11, presenting a “Guerrilla Comedy Concert” to students.

The closing ceremony will be held on September 7 at 6 p.m. at the Grand Theater of the Busan Cultural Center, culminating with “I Am a Gag Singer,” a celebratory performance by talented comedians.

This hybrid performance by “gag singers,” blending comedy and singing, will give audiences a gift-like experience. The festival will conclude with awards for outstanding works presented during the event.
