Busan Data Week (BUSAN DATA WEEK) 2025 to be Held… Participant Pre-registration Now Open

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that it will host “Busan Data Week (BUSAN DATA WEEK) 2025” at BEXCO over two days, September 22 and 23.

This year’s event, under the theme of “Technological Transformation Driven by Data and Tangible Value for Citizens,” will bring together leading domestic experts in digital transformation and the data sector. Participants will share the latest trends and insights while exploring how data can drive innovation in public services, strengthen industrial competitiveness, and enhance citizens’ quality of life.

The event will also highlight the utilization of data and outstanding cases from local companies, seeking future development directions of Busan’s data industry together with citizens.

On the first day (September 22), the opening ceremony will be followed by a keynote speech by Cho Yong-min, Chief Investment Officer of UnboundLabDev Co., Ltd., on the topic “The Data Utilization Recipes of People Who Achieve Results.”

[Session 1: Data × Core Technologies (Trends and Development Directions)] Speakers: Park Tae-woong, Chair of Nookseo Forum; Kim Joon-ho, General Manager of Data Biz at Shinhan Card; and Kim Jeong-yeop, CEO of Ilju G& S Co., Ltd.

[Session 2: Data × Core Technologies – Industry-specific Adoption Cases and Value Creation] Speakers: Kim Byung-jun, Director at AWS Korea; Son Byung-hee, Head of AI Research Lab at MaumAI Co., Ltd.; and Bae Hye-rim, Professor at Pusan National University, who will present strategies for expanding the data ecosystem through public-sector AI strategies and convergence of new technologies.

On the second day (September 23), big data expert and author Song Kil-young will deliver a keynote speech on “How to Become a Human Who Survives in the Big Data Era.”

[Session 3: Data Literacy (Data Ethics, Education, HR)] Speakers: Lee Sun-pyo, Executive Director at SNPLab; Jang Won-cheol, Professor at Seoul National University; and Kim Jeong-gil, Head of Saramin Co., Ltd.

[Session 4: Data Governance (Awareness Expansion, Utilization, and Sharing)] Professor Jo Nam-jae of Hanyang University will give a lecture. In cooperation with the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency, cases of big data analysis and utilization by SMEs will be introduced, and strategies for data governance and nurturing future talent will be discussed.

In addition, the “Busan Big Data Innovation Center,” a driving force for the development of the local data ecosystem, will hold a performance report session to share outcomes from major programs, including the Digital Transformation (DX) Challenger Project, Project-Based Learning (PBL) for talent development, and the Daytory Lab.

Side events will feature an exhibition of entries from the “Busan Data Utilization Best Practices Contest,” with expert evaluations and an awards ceremony on the second day.

Exhibition booths will also be operated by data-utilizing companies from within and outside the Busan region, showcasing DX-based products and solutions, as well as offering data utilization and AI technology consulting.
