The 22nd International Conference on Silicon Carbide and Related Materials (ICSCRM 2025) to Be Held in Busan, the First in Korea!

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that the 22nd International Conference on Silicon Carbide and Related Materials (ICSCRM 2025)* will be held in Busan this September.

○ The conference will take place from September 14 to 19 for six days at BEXCO’s ▲Exhibition Hall 1 ▲Convention Hall ▲Auditorium, bringing together more than 2,000 industry-academia-research experts from over 40 countries.

ICSCRM: International Conference on Silicon Carbide and Related Materials

The ICSCRM, launched in 1987, is the world’s largest academic conference in the power semiconductor sector. In 2025, it will be held in Busan for the first time in Korea.

○ Busan was confirmed as the host city at the 19th conference in Davos, Switzerland, in September 2022. This marks the first time the event will be held outside the United States, Europe, and Japan, making it highly significant.

This year’s conference will showcase key research outcomes in the field of silicon carbide (SiC), including ▲materials ▲defects & properties ▲device design & processing ▲packaging ▲applications ▲reliability, while over 150 global companies will operate exhibition booths.

○ Major programs will include ▲[Exhibition Hall 1] Exhibitions & Posters ▲[Convention Hall] Tutorials, Oral Presentations, Gala Dinner ▲[Auditorium] Opening Ceremony & Keynote Lectures.

○ In particular, the inauguration ceremony for the headquarters and manufacturing plant of IQ Lab Co., Ltd., Busan’s leading power semiconductor company and a major sponsor, will be held on September 17. This event is expected to serve as a representative cooperation model linking industry (corporations), academia (ICSCRM), and local government (Busan Metropolitan City).

The city plans to use this conference as an opportunity to generate tangible outcomes such as ▲international technological cooperation ▲investment networking ▲global promotion, thereby solidifying Busan’s status as a “Global Hub City for Power Semiconductors.”

○ In the meantime, the city will focus on thorough preparations, including the establishment of a safety management plan and the hosting of a final briefing session, to ensure the safe and seamless operation of the event.
