HUG Donates KRW 100 Million to Improve Housing Conditions for the Vulnerable

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that on August 20 at 4:30 p.m., it held a donation ceremony in the City Hall International Protocol Room, where Korea Housing & Urban Guarantee Corporation (HUG) delivered a donation to improve housing conditions for vulnerable groups.

The ceremony was attended by Lee Jun-seung, Vice Mayor for Administrative Affairs, Yoon Myung-kyu, Acting President of HUG, Lee Su-tae, Chair of the Busan Community Chest of Korea, Lee Sun-joo, Chair of the Busan Self-Sufficiency Center Association, and Lee Sang-cheol, Chair of the Busan Self-Sufficiency Enterprise Cooperative Association.

At the ceremony, HUG donated KRW 100 million to support the improvement of housing conditions for vulnerable groups.

The donation will be provided through the Busan Community Chest of Korea and used for the “Safe House” project, which supports discharged patients and other vulnerable people to live healthily and happily in their homes, rather than in facilities or hospitals.
Through this project, support will be given to vulnerable households in need of care, including the installation of safety bars, removal of thresholds, anti-slip measures, installation of assistive handrails, and customized disinfection and pest control.

As a specialized housing guarantee institution contributing to the stability of housing for the public and the development of the housing market, HUG has been actively engaged in various social contribution activities and regional development initiatives.
It has carried out projects such as renovating aging social welfare facilities, supporting rental housing deposits for low-income households without homes, and providing emergency medical services for children.
In addition, it has consistently pursued activities for regional development, including establishing an economic revitalization support fund and supporting the training of local information technology (IT) talent.

Meanwhile, Busan Metropolitan City is implementing the “Busan Habitat Challenge Project” to improve housing conditions for seniors living in poor housing.
This project, in collaboration with socially responsible companies and community resources, remodels deteriorated housing for low-income seniors, including those living alone, into safe residential spaces tailored to their living patterns.
The project includes modernization of kitchens and bathrooms, relocation of indoor facilities, improvements such as installation of sinks and shower spaces, replacement of interior finishing materials, and enhancement of insulation performance.

Lee Jun-seung, Vice Mayor for Administrative Affairs of Busan Metropolitan City, stated, “HUG’s donation is expected to greatly contribute to creating a foundation where vulnerable citizens can live with peace of mind,” adding, “Busan will continue to make efforts so that the city becomes a 15-minute care city, where every citizen can enjoy a healthy and happy life within their community.”
