A Garden City of Integrity and Happiness Call for Entries for the 13th Busan Metropolitan City Landscape Awards

□ Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that it will invite nominations for the 13th Busan Metropolitan City Landscape Awards in order to discover outstanding landscaping projects.

□ This competition has been arranged to realize “Busan, a garden city of integrity and happiness”, which builds a healthy and beautiful urban environment, and to improve the quality of the local landscaping sector.
○ Eligible entrants are landscaping projects in both the private and public sectors (including multi-family housing complexes) of 500 square meters (㎡) or more that have been completed in Busan within the past two years (from August 1, 2023 to July 31, 2025).

□ The City plans to select six projects – one Grand Prize, one First Prize, and one Excellence Prize each in the private and public sectors – based on a comprehensive evaluation of ▲contribution to the environment (including fine dust reduction and mitigation of the urban heat island effect) ▲harmony with the surrounding environment ▲level of completion ▲integrity.
○ The evaluation will be carried out in a fair and transparent manner in September by a judging panel comprised of members of the Busan Metropolitan City Urban Forest Creation and Management Deliberation Committee.
○ The final results will be posted on the City’s website and individually notified, and an award certificate from the Mayor of Busan Metropolitan City and a commemorative plaque for the site will be presented in October.

□ Project owners, designers, and contractors of interested landscaping sites must submit an application form, project presentation panel, and explanatory materials during the submission period (September 1 to September 12) to the Green Forest City Division (25th floor, Busan City Hall, 1001 Jungang-daero, Yeonje-gu).

□ Ahn Cheol-su, Director General of the Green City Bureau, said, “This competition has been arranged to create Busan, a garden city of integrity and happiness and realize a green carpet within a 15-minute living area,” and added, “We ask for the active interest and participation of landscaping professionals and citizens.”
Green Carpet: a green space that unfolds like a carpet by introducing green areas into buildings, roads, plazas, etc.
