Busan Metropolitan City to Conduct the “2025 Busan Social Survey” Starting August 19

□ Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that it will conduct the “2025 Busan Social Survey” for 21 days from tomorrow (19th) to September 8.

○ The Busan Social Survey is conducted annually to measure citizens’ daily life, civic awareness, and level of welfare. Its results are used as basic data for the development of policies to improve the quality of life of citizens. First launched in 1996 as the nation’s first local government survey, this year marks its 30th iteration.

<Outline of the 2025 Busan Social Survey>
– (Survey period) August 19 – September 8, 2025  ※ Survey reference date: August 19, 2025
– (Survey subjects) Individuals aged 15 or older in 17,860 sample households residing in Busan
– (Method) Household visits and face-to-face interviews by surveyors, and distribution/collection of self-administered questionnaires
– (Contents) 55 items covering labor, housing and transportation, culture and leisure, education, and income and consumption, plus 0–5 items reflecting the characteristics of each district

□ This year’s survey will target individuals aged 15 or older in 17,860 sample households residing in Busan, and will examine a total of 55–60 items including 49 common items in areas such as ▲labor ▲housing and transportation ▲culture and leisure ▲education and ▲income and consumption, 6 basic items for statistical processing, and up to 5 district-specific items.
○ The survey items include nationwide common items, allowing part of the survey results to be compared with other regions.

□ The survey will be conducted using both ▲face-to-face interviews by surveyors and ▲distribution and collection of self-administered questionnaires.
○ Personal information collected will be strictly protected and used solely for statistical purposes in accordance with Article 33 (Protection of Secrets) of the Statistics Act.
○ The results of this survey will be available at the end of December this year on the City’s website (data.busan.go.kr / Big Data Wave – Statistics – Statistics Data Room – Busan Social Survey).

□ Jeong Na-young, Director General of the Future Technology Strategy Bureau, stated, “All opinions collected through this survey will be actively reflected in the improvement of policies and services in various fields such as labor, housing, transportation and education, and will serve as valuable groundwork for planning the future of Busan,” and asked for “active participation and cooperation when the surveyors visit.”
