Singer PSY Begins Full-Scale Activities as Special Ambassador for the National Sports Festival and National Para Games

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that it will begin full-scale promotional activities for the “2025 National Sports Festival and National Para Games,” which will be held in October, in collaboration with global K-pop star PSY (real name Park Jae-sang), who was appointed last month as a special ambassador for the two events.

In July, the city appointed PSY as the special ambassador for both events. With the recent arrival of a promotional video featuring PSY himself, the city is now officially launching promotional activities alongside the announcement of his appointment.

Since his debut as a singer in 2001, PSY has released numerous hit songs such as “Champion” and “Gangnam Style,” igniting the global K-pop wave. In particular, “Gangnam Style” made history in global pop culture as the first video to surpass one billion views on YouTube. His annual “PSY Summer Swag” concerts, which sell out every year, have showcased his explosive energy.

The city explained that PSY was chosen as a special ambassador because his nationwide recognition, influence, spirit of challenge, and the message of unity and determination conveyed through his iconic song “Champion” align with the values pursued by the National Sports Festival.

In addition to appointing the special ambassador, the city will also conduct on-site promotions at large-scale performances. On August 15, during the “PSY Summer Swag 2025” concert at the Busan Asiad Main Stadium, the city will operate a National Sports Festival promotional booth.

Targeting an audience of about 22,000 concertgoers, the city plans to:

• ●[Promotional Booth Operation] Host kiosk quiz events, set up photo zones, and distribute promotional leaflets and souvenirs.

• ●[Promotional Video Screening] Show a dynamic promotional video on the large electronic display before the concert.

• ●[PSY Promotional Mentions] Have PSY personally mention and wish for the success of the games during the concert.

• ●[Mascot Installation] Install an inflatable “Boogi” mascot to further enhance the festive atmosphere.

In addition, PSY’s promotional video for the National Sports Festival and related social media activities will be used to widely promote the games as a “festival for all.”

PSY commented, “It is a great honor to join as an ambassador for Korea’s premier sports festival. I will do my best to promote the National Sports Festival and National Para Games so that they can be energetic events enjoyed by everyone.”

Mayor Park Heong-joon said, “By appointing PSY as a special ambassador and linking on-site promotions with the PSY Summer Swag concert, we will ensure the successful hosting of the two major national sports events in Busan for the first time in 25 years. I ask for the active interest and participation of our citizens.”

Meanwhile, the 106th National Sports Festival will be held from October 17 to 23 at 82 venues across Busan, featuring 50 sports events. The 45th National Para Games will take place from October 31 to November 5 at 38 venues, featuring 31 sports events.
