Bibliotheca Busan to Host ‘Beach Library, Haeundae Book-vacance’ Event

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon), together with the Busan Cultural Foundation, announced that it will hold a special summer pop-up event of “Bibliotheca Busan” from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on August 16 at the sandy beach near Songlim Park on Haeundae Beach.

The event, under the theme “Beach Library, Haeundae Book-vacance,” is designed as an unconventional way to spend the summer by enjoying books by the seaside. The free zone near Songlim Park, where the event will take place, is known for its stunning ocean views and comfortable shade in the afternoon, making it a popular spot for relaxation. The reading space provided here is expected to offer visitors a refreshing and distinctive experience.

The event will consist of ▲bookshelves ▲a reading zone ▲and citizen participation programs.

The bookshelves will hold more than 1,600 books on themes such as travel, relaxation, and children’s literature, all suitable for light summer reading.

The reading zone will be equipped with large parasols, sunbeds, and shade tents, allowing visitors to read in comfort. Special kits will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis for those accompanied by pets, and a dedicated “Waterproof Zone” will offer books safe for seaside reading.

Citizen participation programs will include providing beverage coupons to visitors who share proof of participation on social media, and “A Line of Warmth,” where participants handwrite their favorite sentences from a book.

In addition, the event will ensure accessibility for wheelchairs, strollers, and family visitors by securing accessible routes and providing low tables and wheelchair seating.

The event is free to attend, with some programs requiring prior registration.
