Busan Metropolitan City to Host “Illustration Contest for Eradication of Corruption in the Safety Sector”

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that it will host the “Illustration Contest for Eradication of Corruption in the Safety Sector” under the theme “Integrity Ensures Safety!” to raise awareness of corruption issues in the safety sector, promote a culture of integrity, and strengthen communication with citizens.

The city will conduct a first round of internal review and a second round of review by external experts, selecting a total of five winning entries. The winners will be announced in September and will receive the Busan Mayor’s Award along with a total of KRW 5 million in prize money.

The winning works will be posted on social media and used to produce promotional materials aimed at improving vulnerable areas to corruption.

Any Korean citizen interested may participate in the contest. Applicants must submit an application form, consent form for the provision, collection, and use of personal information, a work description, and the artwork file via email to the contest manager (sunnyye12@korea.kr) during the contest period (August 6–27).

The contest category is “Illustration (colored)” and all works must include the three words “Integrity,” “Safety,” and “Busan.”

Meanwhile, the Busan Audit Committee has designated the safety sector (construction and facility management) as the priority area for improvement in this year’s Comprehensive Integrity Assessment. With the goal of realizing a “Clean and Safe City Busan,” the committee is pursuing improvement tasks such as citizen contests to enhance transparency and credibility through expanded citizen participation.

Yoon Hee-yeon, Chairperson of the Busan Audit Committee, stated, “This year, we are implementing our annual audit plan with a focus on citizen safety. Through this contest, we hope to provide an opportunity not only for public officials but also for many citizens to participate in the city’s integrity initiatives. We will continue to communicate with citizens to make every effort toward creating a clean and safe city of Busan.”
