□ Foster next-generation star designers with global sensibilities through top-tier design education!

□ Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) and the Busan Design Promotion Agency (President Kang Pil-hyun) announced the recruitment of designers to participate in the “Busan-Good Designer Global Capacity-Building Program” by August 13.

○ The “Busan-Good Designer Global Capacity-Building Program” is the first initiative in Korea to support outstanding designers in Busan by providing opportunities to experience advanced global design cases, aiming to enhance design sensibilities and strengthen the global competitiveness of the regional design industry.

○ The program is designed to support outstanding designers who are based in the region and contributing to the local design industry, by providing them with opportunities to participate in global educational programs and fostering sustainable settlement incentives.

□ The support program includes the following components: participation in global design education programs, benchmarking of advanced design practices, tailored capacity-building training, and support for participation in international design competitions.

○ In particular, the program will offer global design workshops and advanced design experience programs through collaboration with leading design education institutions such as the Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design (CIID) in Italy and Aalto University in Finland.

○ The Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design (CIID) is a world-renowned institution specializing in interaction design*, known for its hands-on curriculum and interdisciplinary education combining design and technology. Participants will experience the latest design environments, including training in market-driven service design, participation in the London Design Festival, and visits to design studios in Italy.

*Interaction Design (IxD): A design discipline focused on shaping the interaction between users and products or services.

○ Aalto University in Finland is Northern Europe’s top multidisciplinary university combining arts, technology, and business. It excels in socially impactful projects such as public service design, sustainability, and design for vulnerable groups. Participants will gain sustainable design skills through service model design training, visits to major local companies, and participation in SLUSH, Europe’s largest startup networking event.

○ In addition, the program will promote outcome-sharing and collaboration among local designers through customized training reflecting the latest technological trends, support for participation in international competitions, and final result presentations.

□ Eligible applicants must be designers registered as residents in Busan with more than three years of local work experience. Applications must be submitted via email to the Busan Design Promotion Agency by August 13 (infokyung@dcb.or.kr).
