Busan Museum and Tsushima Museum of Japan Sign Friendship and Exchange Agreement to Expand Korea-Japan Cultural Exchange

Busan Museum, operated by Busan Metropolitan City, announced that it officially signed a friendship and exchange agreement with the Tsushima Museum (対馬博物館) of Japan at a meeting held at 5:00 p.m. on July 24 in the conference room of Busan Museum.

This agreement was established to promote the transmission of cultural heritage and diverse mutual exchanges and joint development in the field of culture and arts, grounded in the long-standing historical interaction and mutual understanding between Korea and Japan.

The two museums have previously engaged in informal cooperation through exhibition visits and exchanges between curators. With the signing of this official agreement, they plan to advance their collaboration into a continuous and systematic partnership.

The signing ceremony was attended by Jeong Eun-woo, Director of Busan Museum, and Kazuto Machida (町田一仁), Director of Tsushima Museum, who personally signed the agreement.

The agreement includes comprehensive cooperation plans such as: ▲mutual use of collections and exhibition exchange ▲joint research and academic studies ▲activation of personnel exchange ▲mutual utilization of research outcomes ▲collaborative promotion.

Through this agreement, the two institutions plan to actively promote practical collaboration such as joint excavations and academic research, joint exhibitions, and data exchanges, with the aim of enhancing visitor satisfaction and achieving greater academic outcomes.

Furthermore, by expanding the exchange of professional personnel, they aim to strengthen the capabilities of museum staff and expand the international cooperation network, thereby elevating the global status of Busan Museum.

Jeong Eun-woo, Director of Busan Museum, stated, “Through this agreement, we will provide citizens with more diverse cultural experiences and further enhance the status of Busan Museum through strengthened international cooperation,” and added, “Both museums will grow together and contribute to revitalizing cultural exchange both locally and internationally.”
