Busan Labor-Management-Civil Administration Council Unites to Realize Busan as a Global Maritime Hub City by Creating Safe and Stable Workplaces

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that it will hold the “2025 Busan Labor-Management-Civil Administration Council General Assembly” at 10:00 AM today (25th) in the Main Conference Room of the City Council.

The Labor-Management-Civil Administration Council is a social dialogue body that deliberates on employment and labor-related issues, composed of representatives of labor and management, labor and labor relations experts, citizens, and public officials from Busan.

Since its first term in 2011, the council is currently operating its 7th term.

The meeting will include:

• ●Appointment of new members to the 7th Busan Labor-Management-Civil Administration Council

• ●Report on the achievements of the 2024 cooperation support projects and the main projects planned for 2025

• ●Presentation of research on the current status of continuous employment and reemployment in the Busan area

• ●Deliberation on the draft of the Joint Declaration

Twenty council members, including Chairperson Mayor Park Heong-joon, Hae-soo Lee, Head of the Busan Chapter of the Federation of Korean Trade Unions, Kwang-soo Kim, Chairman of the Busan Employers Federation, and Jun-hwi Kim, Head of the Busan Employment and Labor Office, as well as experts and civic groups, are expected to attend.

In particular, during this meeting, the council will adopt the “Busan Labor-Management-Civil Administration Joint Declaration” aimed at realizing Busan as a global maritime hub city by creating safe and stable workplaces.

The Joint Declaration includes sector-specific commitments from the labor-management-civil administration community to realize a “safe workplace” free of industrial accidents and a “stable workplace” free of wage arrears, with the goal of transforming Busan into a global maritime hub city.

Mayor Park will state, “The era of one million regular workers is a result of our city's determination to create good jobs, the job-creating efforts of businesses, and the dedication of workers and citizens. I hope that the 7th Labor-Management-Civil Administration Council will be a reliable partner in achieving safe and stable workplaces and realizing Busan as a global maritime hub city. The city will continue its efforts to help the Busan economy advance, create more quality jobs, and establish a strong employment ecosystem.”
