Busan Supports Housing Stability for Workers at SMEs in Gijang-gun… Realizing a Business-Friendly City

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that it will recruit participating companies for the “Institutional Supply of Public Rental Housing for SME Workers in Gijang-gun through LH (Korea Land and Housing Corporation)” from July 24 (Thurs) to August 6 (Wed).

On July 3, the City signed a “Public Rental Housing Supply Agreement for SME Workers in East Busan (Gijang-gun)” together with Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, industrial complex council federations, and the Busan Economic Promotion Agency. Under the agreement, LH will supply public rental housing for SME workers by allocating residential units that have been vacant for more than one year in Gijang-gun.

Gijang-gun is a key industrial and SME cluster in Busan. To support housing stability for SME workers in the area who struggle with securing labor, 263 LH rental units located in Jeonggwan-eup will be supplied as public rental housing through institutional allocation.

The available units consist of:

• ●45 units in Jeonggwan Complex 4

• ●62 units in Jeonggwan Complex 5

• ●76 units in Jeonggwan Complex 7

• ●80 units in Jeonggwan Haengbok Housing

SMEs (including mid-sized companies) located in Gijang-gun whose employees do not own a home in the area and wish to apply for these public rental units can submit applications online through the Busan Economic Promotion Agency’s SME Fund Support Platform (https://capital.bepa.kr) from July 24 (Thurs) to August 6 (Wed).

Applications will be categorized by housing complex and unit size. If applications exceed the number of available units, selection will consider factors such as number of employees, company operating period, technology certifications, export activities, and new hiring status.

Results will be announced on August 20 (Wed) and communicated individually to selected companies, in addition to being posted on the online platform.

The City emphasized that resolving housing difficulties for SME workers is directly tied to the sustainability of local industries. Through this project, Busan aims to provide workers with secure housing conditions, mitigate workforce shortages caused by housing issues, and significantly contribute to building a business-friendly environment.
