2025 National Sports Festival and National Para Games District-Level Promotional Briefings Underway

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that it is currently conducting the “2025 National Sports Festival and National Para Games District-Level Promotional Briefings” through the end of July to ensure the successful hosting of the 106th National Sports Festival (October 17–23) and the 45th National Para Games (October 31–November 5).

This series of briefings is part of efforts to draw voluntary interest and cooperation from citizens and to establish a close partnership with local communities, especially as the Games return to Busan for the first time in 25 years.

The briefings target all 16 districts and counties of the city and are held on-site in alignment with the meeting schedules of local heads of residents' associations and community leaders, offering a more tailored and hands-on approach.

The city is visiting each district’s meeting venues to provide an overview of the Games and the current preparations. The sessions focus on key areas requiring citizen involvement, including the opening and closing ceremonies, recruitment of volunteers and supporters, and the torch relay.

Notably, participating citizens have responded positively to the briefings, actively engaging in information sharing and Q&A sessions in a two-way communication format.

Through these briefings, the city expects to achieve multiple outcomes, including stronger communication with local communities, expanded citizen participation, enhanced cooperation at the district level, and the creation of a festive and supportive atmosphere in the lead-up to the Games.

By widely promoting activities in which citizens can directly participate—such as volunteering and joining supporter groups—the initiative brings Busan one step closer to realizing a citizen-led National Sports Festival and National Para Games.

The city also plans to carefully review suggestions and feedback collected during the briefings and reflect them in its future preparations. Even after the conclusion of the briefings, ongoing communication will be maintained to establish an organic, field-oriented system of cooperation.
