Busan Family-Friendly Certified Companies to Receive Expanded Incentives — Now Available in Jeju!

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that it had signed an agreement on July 17 at Jeju Saem Agricultural Cooperative Corporation to expand the incentives provided to employees of family-friendly certified companies in Busan to the Jeju region.

Under this agreement, seven organizations in Jeju — including Hanlim Park Co., Ltd., Monolith Jeju Park Co., Ltd., Casaro Maro Hotel, Pulgae Cooperative, Make a Better Co., Ltd., Cheongryong Fisheries Co., Ltd., and Jeju Saem Agricultural Cooperative Corporation — will offer discounts on admission, usage fees, and product purchases.

This initiative is a response from Jeju to Busan’s pioneering move last year to offer incentive benefits for family-friendly certified companies — a first in the nation — to five provinces, including Jeju.

With the signing of this agreement, employees of 363 certified companies in Busan, as well as those in Daegu, Jeonbuk, Jeonnam, and Gyeongbuk, will be able to receive various benefits in Jeju.

In January of last year, Busan signed an agreement to provide family-friendly certified company benefits to employees of more than 1,000 companies across five regions (Daegu, Jeonbuk, Jeonnam, Gyeongbuk, and Jeju). Participants included five institutions in Busan: Busan Aquarium, LCT Management Co., Ltd., Jeil Air Travel Agency, Club de Oasis, and KidZania Busan.

Busan plans to continue strengthening its cooperation network so that family-friendly certified companies in the region can benefit from incentives offered in other provinces as well.

In addition, Busan will continue to propose institutional improvements to the national government to ensure that certified companies across the country can enjoy equal benefits regardless of location.

A “family-friendly certified company” is a business or public institution recognized for exemplary implementation of family-friendly policies such as flexible work arrangements and support for childbirth and childcare.

Certified companies and their employees are eligible for various incentives and preferential benefits from the central and local governments, including access to policy funds, priority for government support projects, and discounts on accommodation and admission fees.

To address declining birthrates and to promote a work-life balance culture in the private sector, Busan has been actively identifying and providing a range of incentives. The city currently offers around 50 such incentives that it has developed independently in collaboration with local businesses and their employees.

“Our city will continue its efforts to build a social environment that promotes work-life balance.”
