"Up to KRW 430,000! Don’t Miss Out"… Busan Metropolitan City to Begin First Round of ‘Public Relief Consumption Coupons’ Distribution from July 21

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that it will begin the first round of distribution for the ‘Public Relief Consumption Coupons’ from July 21 to September 12 to swiftly stimulate local consumption and revitalize the regional economy.

This initiative is aligned with the first round of the Public Relief Consumption Coupon distribution plan announced by the central government on July 5, and is aimed at delivering tangible economic recovery and revitalization of livelihoods for citizens.

As Busan is classified as a non-capital region, an additional KRW 30,000 will be provided per person. Thus, in the first round, general citizens will receive KRW 180,000, near-poverty households and single-parent families will receive KRW 330,000, and Basic Livelihood Security recipients will receive KRW 430,000.

The second round of distribution (September 22 to October 31) will provide an additional KRW 100,000 per person to 90% of the population.

Eligible applicants must be residents registered in Busan as of June 18, 2025. Adults (born on or before December 31, 2006) may apply individually. Applications are accepted both online and offline.

For minors, the household head listed on the resident registration may apply. If a minor is the household head with no adult members, they may apply directly.

※ For those born between June 19 and September 12, 2025: Coupons may be received after birth registration and filing an objection by September 12
※ For those who moved into the region after June 18, 2025: Coupons may be received after reporting the move-in and applying online or offline

Online applications can be submitted through the websites or apps of credit card companies or local gift certificate platforms (such as Dongbaekjeon). Offline applications can be made at:

• ●Bank branches affiliated with the credit card company (for credit/debit cards)

• ●Local community service centers in the applicant’s residential area (for prepaid cards)

• ●Busan Bank branches (for local gift certificates)

The application period for the first round of Public Relief Consumption Coupons is from July 21 to September 12. During the first week (July 21–25), applications will be accepted based on the final digit of the applicant’s birth year to manage application volumes.

Application schedule by day (July 21–25, both online and offline):

• ●Monday: 1, 6

• ●Tuesday: 2, 7

• ●Wednesday: 3, 8

• ●Thursday: 4, 9

• ●Friday: 5, 0

• ●Saturday–Sunday: online only; offline unavailable

Applicants may choose to receive the coupons in the form of credit/debit card points, prepaid cards, or local gift certificates. Credit/debit cards may be used at businesses in Busan with annual sales of KRW 3 billion or less. Local gift certificates may be used at designated merchants.

As the intent of the coupons is to promptly boost the local economy, they must be used by November 30. Any remaining balance after this date will expire automatically.

Please note that coupons cannot be used with kiosk terminals; only in-store card readers may be used. Additionally, prepaid card distribution may be delayed due to supply shortages. In such cases, recipients will be notified by text message once the cards are ready.

To minimize inconvenience and ensure widespread access, the City will operate a dedicated call center and provide an “on-site application support service.”

The call center (☎ 1544-0510) will provide prompt and accurate assistance regarding eligibility, application procedures, and usage. It will also coordinate with the national call center (☎ 110) and the government-designated center (☎ 1670-2525) to offer comprehensive consultation.

Furthermore, for elderly citizens, individuals with disabilities, and others with limited mobility, the City will operate an “on-site application support service,” where staff from local community centers will visit and assist with the application process.

Mayor Park Heong-joon stated, “This distribution of consumption coupons is not merely financial assistance, but a proactive measure aimed at ensuring both citizens’ livelihood stability and economic recovery,” adding, “Small purchases can revive local businesses, and that revitalization will, in turn, benefit citizens. The City will spare no effort in establishing this virtuous cycle.”
