Busan Metropolitan City Invites Submissions for the 2025 Autumn Edition of the “Busan Culture Board”

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced today (July 16) that it is accepting entries for the autumn edition of the “Busan Culture Board” to be displayed on the outer wall of City Hall through August 6.

Since its launch in 2010, the “Busan Culture Board” has showcased seasonal phrases submitted by citizens on the exterior wall of City Hall, bringing a touch of culture to the building and serving as a channel for emotional communication with the public.

Anyone who loves Busan is welcome to participate. Entries should be Korean phrases of 25 characters or fewer that convey messages of hope, love, and warmth. Submissions can be either original phrases or excerpts from literary works.

Entries can be submitted through the “Events/Applications” section on the city’s website (www.busan.go.kr/minwon/occation). Alternatively, applicants may fill out the application form attached to the public notice and send it via email (kyunghp1@korea.kr) or postal mail (To: Busan Culture Board Administrator, Urban Public Design Division, 18th Floor, Busan Metropolitan City Hall, 1001 Jungang-daero, Yeonje-gu, Busan).

Winning and runner-up entries will be selected through a review process conducted by the Busan Writers Association. The selected phrases will then be designed and displayed on the exterior wall of City Hall starting in early September.

The grand prize winner will receive a cultural gift certificate worth 500,000 KRW, and six runner-up entries will each receive one worth 50,000 KRW.

Notably, this year’s autumn edition will feature a creative and emotionally rich design developed in collaboration with young Busan designers. The initiative aims to offer practical experience and growth opportunities for young creatives, while also enriching the cityscape of downtown Busan with new cultural elements this fall.

Ko Mi-jin, Director General of the Future Design Bureau, stated, “The ‘Busan Culture Board’ is a space of empathy and communication created together with our citizens. We hope this call for submissions will encourage wide participation and help infuse the autumn cityscape with warm and emotional messages.”
