Busan City to Fully Promote East Coast Tourism… Strengthening Cooperation with Gangwon-do

The Busan Metropolitan City  (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced its plans to strengthen cooperation with Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province and promote East Coast regional tourism, taking the opening of the Donghae Line as an opportunity.

○ Beginning today (July 11), a delegation of approximately 100 Gangwon representatives, including Governor Kim Jin-tae of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, will visit Busan for two days (July 11–12). They will hold a promotional campaign targeting Busan citizens to celebrate the “2025–2026 Visit Gangwon Years.”

○ The promotional campaign will begin at 4:00 p.m. today (July 11) at Bujeon Station on the Donghae Line, where Mayor Park Heong-joon will deliver a congratulatory speech.

□ During the campaign event, a Mutual Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) will be signed between the Busan Tourism Organization and the Gangwon Tourism Foundation, marking the beginning of sustainable cooperative projects such as the development of joint tourism products for domestic and international tourists and joint marketing utilizing the Donghae Line.

○ This year, Busan is focusing on revitalizing wide-area tourism using Busan as a hub to meet diverse travel demands and encourage longer stays.

○ In April, the city launched 49 types of regional tourism packages for foreign tourists, including:

• ●One-day tour products (SIC: Seat In Coach)

• ●Customized themed products (SIT: Special Interest Travel)

• ●Bu-Ul-Gyeong regional tour packages

○ From July, in partnership with the East Coast Tourism Promotion Council, the city will introduce theme tourism train products using the Donghae Line, focusing on developing linked regional tourism products.
