Busan Metropolitan City Holds Inception Briefing for the ‘2025 Seven Bridge Tour: Riding in Busan’ Project

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that it will hold an inception briefing at 1:30 PM today (July 4) in the conference room on the 7th floor of City Hall to mark the official start of the “2025 Seven Bridge Tour” project (hereinafter referred to as “the briefing”).

This briefing is being held in preparation for the successful hosting of the “Seven Bridge Tour,” scheduled to take place on September 21. Attendees will include key stakeholders such as Busan Metropolitan Police Agency, Busan Fire & Disaster Headquarters, the city’s Sports Council, the Busan Cycling Federation, university faculty, the project executor Busan Festival Organizing Committee, and local cycling clubs.

The briefing will serve as a platform to share the event’s basic plan, traffic control strategies, safety measures, and public outreach initiatives among participating agencies, thereby strengthening inter-agency coordination.

Busan Metropolitan City plans to expand the Seven Bridge Tour beyond a participatory sports event leveraging urban infrastructure into global brand content that integrates tourism, fitness, and environmental values.

This year, as the inaugural event, the city will focus on safe operation centered around four major sea bridges. Based on the operational experience gained, the event will be gradually expanded to include additional routes and bridges in future editions.

The Seven Bridge Tour is the only large-scale non-competitive cycling tour in the country that allows participants to ride continuously through four sea bridges, two underpasses, and one tunnel, forming a loop course representing Busan. Participants will experience the city’s diverse landscapes — ocean, mountains, and rivers — from the unique vantage point of a bicycle, offering a one-of-a-kind opportunity.

The 77-kilometer course starts at BEXCO and runs through Gwangan Bridge, Sinsundae Underpass, Busanhangdaegyo Bridge, Namhangdaegyo Bridge, Cheonma Tunnel, Jangpyeong Underpass, and Eulsukdo Bridge, reaching the turnaround point at Maekdo Ecological Park before returning to Gwangan Bridge.

On the event day, all roads along the course will be fully closed to vehicles for a limited time in the morning. The chance to cycle across normally vehicle-only sea bridges is expected to create a uniquely Busan experience.

The event will also feature a variety of participatory programs for citizens and tourists. The upper deck of Gwangan Bridge will be opened to the public free of charge in the morning, hosting a bicycle parade, BMX stunt performances, and a culinary event linked to the “Si-Wol” Festival. Food trucks operated by Michelin-trained chefs and a special program for 1,500 pre-registered foreign tourists will also be offered.

In the BEXCO area, additional family-friendly events will take place, including a bicycle maintenance workshop, traffic safety campaign, and a children's cycling safety class.

Tickets will be available starting July 16 for early bird purchases, followed by regular sales from July 22. Detailed ticketing information will be announced separately.

All ticket sales revenue will be reinvested into the event to improve safety facilities and convenience for participants, including hiring safety personnel and enhancing service quality.

Lee Jun-seung, Deputy Mayor for Administrative Affairs, stated, “The Seven Bridge Tour will go beyond a typical sports event and become a distinctive piece of content unique to Busan, a marine city, seamlessly woven into citizens’ everyday lives.” He added, “We hope this event energizes citizens while also becoming a global asset that enhances Busan’s urban brand identity.”
