A Perfect Day Trip to the East Coast! Full Operation of the Donghae Line Themed Tourist Train Begins

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon), in collaboration with the East Coast Tourism Promotion Council (hereafter "the Council"), announced that the Donghae Line Themed Tourist Train will begin full operation in July, aligned with the opening of the Donghae Line and the start of the summer vacation season.

This tourist train initiative is a joint project involving four participating cities—Busan, Ulsan, Gangwon, and North Gyeongsang—and is promoted by the Council to activate interregional tourism along the East Coast and implement joint tourism product development and marketing strategies.

Themed as “A Perfect Day Trip to the East Coast,” the train will operate four courses: the Samcheok/Donghae and Uljin routes on July 17, followed by the Busan and Ulsan routes on July 19.

This product is not just about the train ride—it is a themed tourism package enriched with onboard activities including “Regional Souvenir Contest Exhibitions,” “Selfie Booths,” and tasting events featuring local specialties.

Especially on July 19, the Busan course includes core tourist destinations such as the yacht tour, Busan Tower, Busan Cinema Experience Museum, Trick Eye Museum, and Bupyeong (Kkangtong) and Gukje Markets.

Passengers will board at Donghae Station (06:30), Samcheok Station (06:47), or Uljin Station (07:22) and arrive at Sin Haeundae Station in Busan around 10:10.

In the morning, participants will begin with a yacht tour at the Suyeongman Yacht Stadium, followed by visits in the afternoon to Busan Tower, Busan Cinema Experience Museum, Trick Eye Museum, BIFF Square, and Kkangtong and Gukje Markets. The return train departs from Bujeon Station around 18:00.

During the return journey, passengers will be served signature snacks from Bujeon Market such as egg kimbap and sikhye (sweet rice drink), and can enjoy special programs like the “Chug-chug Radio” and nostalgic video screenings, enhancing the joy of the one-day trip.

“The Donghae Line Themed Tourist Train is a newly launched tourism product commemorating the opening of the Donghae Line, which connects Busan, Ulsan, North Gyeongsang, and Gangwon. We expect it to offer tourists a new perspective on the East Coast’s charm. Going forward, we will continue to develop unique tourism content that connects Busan’s marine resources with the East Coast’s pristine nature.”
