Creating a 15-Minute City Busan Together with Citizens: Recruiting Members for the Citizen Group “Siboya Busan”

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced today (July 3) that it will be recruiting members for the citizen group “Siboya Busan” from July 3 to July 16, as the outcomes of the 15-Minute City Busan policy begin to take full effect.

“Siboya Busan” refers to a citizen group that experiences and promotes the 15-Minute City Busan on the ground, and 240 Busan citizens will be selected (approximately 15 people per district/county).

Starting with the inauguration ceremony on July 22, “Siboya Busan” will carry out various activities through November to experience the 15-Minute City and propose related policies.

Activities will include on-site experience programs, an online/offline “15-Minute City Video Challenge,” and proposing policies and programs related to the 15-Minute City.

Busan Metropolitan City plans to actively incorporate outstanding ideas and proposals from the citizen group into actual future projects and operate them as core programs across the city.

Citizen participants will receive priority participation opportunities in the regional “15-Minute City Festival (tentative name)” to be held in the second half of the year, as well as certificates of appointment, awards for outstanding activities, and various other benefits.

Any citizen with a love for Busan and interest in the 15-Minute City policy is welcome to apply. Applications can be submitted through the “Citizen Participation – Event/Application” section of the city’s website (www.busan.go.kr/minwon/occation).

The selection results will be announced on July 19.

Lim Kyung-mo, Director General of the City Innovation and Balanced Development Office, stated, “To complete the 15-Minute City Busan, we will actively reflect citizens’ ideas and values,” and added, “We will continue to explore policies and programs tailored to citizens’ perspectives through on-site collaboration with them.”
