Seeking the Leaders of Innovation! Nominations for the 2025 Busan Venture Entrepreneur Award Begin Today (1st)

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that it will accept nominations (or applications) for the “2025 Outstanding Busan Venture Entrepreneur” from today (1st) through July 25.

The “Outstanding Busan Venture Entrepreneur” selection program, now in its 26th year since its inception in 2000, is conducted in accordance with the "Ordinance on the Courtesy of Entrepreneurs and Promotion of Business Activities of Busan Metropolitan City." Selected entrepreneurs receive an excellence certificate and benefits such as SME operation and development funds, special credit guarantee support, and formal recognition and support for three years.

Eligible candidates must, as of the application date, (1) retain verification as a venture company under the “Special Act on the Promotion of Venture Businesses,” (2) have been established for more than three years, and (3) have been located in Busan for at least one year. Candidates must also demonstrate outstanding achievements in areas such as technology, management, employment generation, and innovation, with strong external competitiveness and high future potential.

The city plans to select five entrepreneurs representing companies with high levels of innovation, technology, and growth, as well as strong future value. Nominations must be submitted by July 25 through district offices, relevant organizations (institutions or associations), or directly by venture entrepreneurs.

Interested applicants can refer to the guidance posted on the city’s official website (Public Notices section, www.busan.go.kr/nbgosi), and submit the application form either in person or by mail (Startup and Venture Business Division, 17th Floor, 1001 Jungang-daero, Yeonje-gu, Busan Metropolitan City).

The city will conduct document reviews and on-site company evaluations, followed by a deliberation by the Merit Review Committee, to select five awardees in October. The award ceremony will be held in November during the “Venture Entrepreneur’s Day” commemoration event.

To date, 130 individuals have received the Busan Venture Entrepreneur Award. Last year, the five recipients were:

Nam Dong-woo, Director General of Financial and Startup Policy for the city, stated, “The Busan Venture Entrepreneur Award is a meaningful recognition that highlights the efforts of venture entrepreneurs leading innovation in a rapidly changing industrial environment and discovering outstanding individuals who contribute to the revitalization of the local economy.” He added, “We hope for active participation and interest from venture entrepreneurs who will help shape the future of Busan.”
