Busan Launches Public Survey for “My Choice of Busan Future Heritage 2025”

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced today (June 27) that it will conduct a public survey until July 6 to select candidates for “Busan Future Heritage 2025.”

“Busan Future Heritage” refers to tangible or intangible heritage in Busan that is widely experienced or remembered by citizens and is recognized as having value worth passing on to future generations. This includes events, individuals, and stories that many citizens have experienced or remember in the context of modern and contemporary Busan, as well as items important for understanding Busan’s history and culture or for promoting the city.

The city compiled a list of 56 candidate items for Busan Future Heritage 2025 through public submissions and expert recommendations collected in April.

Based on the survey results, the Busan Future Heritage Preservation Committee plans to select approximately 25 candidate items in July. After a basic assessment of these candidates, the final list of Busan Future Heritage 2025 will be announced around November.

All Busan citizens are invited to take part in the survey and may recommend up to 10 items (two from each of the five designated categories). Participation is available via the online form (https://naver.me/xktfrnIr) during the survey period.

As an incentive, Busan Metropolitan City will award mobile gift certificates (coffee vouchers) to 50 randomly selected participants.

Cho Yoo-jang, Director General of the Culture Bureau of Busan Metropolitan City, said,
“Busan Future Heritage is significant in enabling citizens to voluntarily preserve, manage, and utilize the city’s heritage of potential value amid rapidly changing times. Citizen participation is crucial for building public consensus and raising awareness of voluntary preservation. We kindly ask for the enthusiastic interest and participation of Busan citizens.”
