71st Anniversary of the Korea Freedom Federation National Convention Held Today (25th) in Busan

The Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that the “71st Anniversary Korea Freedom Federation National Convention” will be held today, June 25 at 2:00 PM, at the BEXCO Auditorium in Haeundae-gu.

○ Founded in 1954, the Korea Freedom Federation (KFF) is a national civic organization dedicated to promoting liberal democracy, national security, and public unity.

○ This year’s national convention is being hosted for the first time in a non-capital region, marking a significant milestone in the Federation’s history.
 The event is supported by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and co-organized by Busan Metropolitan City and the KFF Busan Chapter.

○ More than 5,000 participants, including Mayor Park Heong-joon, major dignitaries, and Federation members from across Korea and overseas, will attend.

○ Themed “Our Beginning, a New Leap Forward!”, the event will include:
 – An opening performance by the World Angel Peace Art Troupe
 – A promotional video about the KFF
 – Welcoming and commemorative speeches
 – Awards for distinguished members
 – A performance titled Key of Freedom
 – A Busan promotional video
 – Celebratory performances and the 2024 Best Branch Award

○ Busan City hopes that this national event will solidify Busan’s status as a hub of solidarity and unity for KFF members from Korea and abroad.

○ The city will also take the opportunity to promote Busan’s charm through a specially produced promotional video and by distributing souvenirs featuring Busan’s slogan “Busan is Good” and mascot Boogi.

Mayor Park Heong-joon will say in his congratulatory speech:

“During the Korean War, Busan was the last bastion of our nation and has since led Korea’s industrialization and economic growth.
To overcome today’s national crises, Busan must be developed into a global hub that attracts capital, talent, and logistics from around the world—spreading its energy and strength across the country.”

He will continue:

“I extend my deepest gratitude to the Korea Freedom Federation for protecting the values of liberal democracy over the past 70 years.
I hope this national convention—held in Busan for the first time—will serve as a springboard for the Federation’s next 70, even 100 years, and mark a new chapter in the future of Korea.”
