Suyoungro Church Donates KRW 110 Million to Support Children in Care and Young Adults Preparing for Independence

The Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that it will hold a donation ceremony on June 25 at 3:00 PM at the 7th floor meeting room of City Hall, together with Senior Pastor Lee Kyoo-hyun of Suyoungro Church, to present funds for children in care and young adults preparing for independence.

○ The donation will support:
 – Cognitive assessments for children with borderline intellectual functioning residing in child welfare facilities
 – Housing and employment support for young adults who have recently exited care
 – Free meal services for vulnerable youth, including those supported by Busan E-Mojib

○ Participants include:
 – Vice Mayor for Administrative Affairs Lee Joon-seung
 – Pastors Lee Hyun-woo and Park Jeong-kwon of Suyoungro Church
 – Park Jeong-gyu, President of the Busan Child Welfare Association
 – Noh Seong-hoon, Regional Director of Save the Children South Region
 – Kang Ji-soo, Director of Busan E-Mojib

○ Since 2012, Suyoungro Church has practiced regular giving to support marginalized communities, donating funds raised during three annual special early morning prayer services.

○ This year’s donation totals KRW 110 million, which will be distributed as follows:

1. Support for Young Adults Preparing for Independence

• ●Recipient: Busan Child Welfare Association

• ●Amount: KRW 60 million

• ●Use: Monthly rent and job-seeking incentives for 74 young adults leaving care, with monthly rent of KRW 150,000 to 180,000 per person

2. Cognitive Assessment Support for Borderline Intellectual Functioning Children

• ●Recipient: Save the Children South Region

• ●Amount: KRW 30 million

• ●Use: Assessment and tailored education support for children suspected of borderline intellectual functioning residing in group homes and child welfare facilities

3. Free Meal Support by Busan E-Mojib

• ●Recipient: Sa Family (operator of Busan E-Mojib)

• ●Amount: KRW 20 million

• ●Use: Free meals for children in care and care leavers
