Busan Takes First Step Toward Administrative and Industrial Innovation Through Data — Launches Master Plan for Data-Based Administrative Innovation

The Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that it is launching the Master Plan for Data-Based Administrative Innovation to strengthen the city’s future competitiveness through data and digital technologies.

This initiative aligns with the rapidly evolving digital landscape, where administrative and industrial innovation is driven by AI, big data, cloud computing, and other emerging technologies.

On June 24 at 10:30 AM, the city will hold a kick-off briefing session in a conference room at City Hall to initiate the planning project. Participants will include city officials, external experts, and project implementation personnel.

Main Objectives of the Master Plan

• ●Establish a vision and long-term roadmap for data-driven innovation

• ●Identify key collaboration and innovation tasks related to digital transformation and data usage

• ●Develop strategies to enhance data quality, availability, and utility

• ●Propose plans for activating the data industry ecosystem and supporting local businesses

• ●Implement initiatives for training data specialists and strengthening data literacy among civil servants, companies, and the general public

The plan will also include building a cohesive data governance system and a control tower to lead the city's digital initiatives, including expanding Busan’s integrated data platform.

In particular, digital technologies such as big data and pseudonymized data processing are positioned as core strategic industries under Busan’s 6th Strategic Industry Development Master Plan (announced in December 2024), and will be promoted as major future growth engines through public-private cooperation.

The city aims to foster a data-centric society where everyone—citizens, companies, and government—can leverage data freely and effectively.
