75th Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony for United Nations Fallen Soldiers of the Korean War

The Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that the “75th Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony for United Nations Fallen Soldiers of the Korean War” will take place on June 25 at 9:00 AM at the UN Memorial Cemetery in Nam-gu, Busan.

The ceremony aims to honor the spirits of UN soldiers who sacrificed their lives for peace and freedom on the Korean Peninsula, while remembering the sacrifices of Korean War veterans and reflecting on the forgotten pain and devastation of the war. The annual ceremony has been held at the UN Memorial Cemetery since 1998.

This year’s event is hosted by the Korea Freedom Federation Busan Metropolitan Chapter, with sponsorship from the City of Busan.

More than 2,300 people are expected to attend, including Mayor Park Heong-joon, dignitaries from major institutions, citizens, and students from various schools. The ceremony will proceed as follows:

• ●Silent tribute

• ●Singing of the Korean War commemorative song

• ●Black Eagles tribute flight

Of particular note is the Black Eagles tribute flight, which will mark the finale of the ceremony. A rehearsal flight is scheduled for June 24, the day before the event.

In his memorial address, Mayor Park will state:

“From the ruins of war, Korea rose to become a global economic power ranked among the world’s top ten. This miracle was only possible because UN veterans risked their lives to protect our nation.
It is our duty to honor their noble sacrifices by building a nation where the values of freedom and peace are deeply rooted. Together with the citizens of Busan, I sincerely pray for the eternal rest of all the fallen heroes laid to rest in the UN Memorial Cemetery.”
