A Warmhearted Community, Busan… “Our Busan Hopeful Summer ‘Chak! Chak! Chak!’ Sharing Campaign” Kicks Off

The Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that the “Our Busan Hopeful Summer ‘Chak! Chak! Chak!’ Sharing Campaign” Kickoff Ceremony was held at 3:00 PM on June 19 in the Grand Auditorium of the Busan Social Welfare Center.

Since 2023, this campaign has been organized annually by the Busan Community Chest of Korea to institutionalize a year-round national donation campaign and spread a culture of everyday giving. This year’s campaign runs for 35 days from June 11 to July 15.

The kickoff ceremony included the delivery of donations from individuals and businesses, presentation of summer relief kits, and a symbolic performance to mark the beginning of the campaign.

Attendees included Mayor Park Heong-joon, Dongnae-gu Mayor Jang Jun-yong, Chairperson Lee Soo-tae of the Busan Community Chest, individual and corporate high-value donors, and around 50 volunteers.

Mayor Park, as the No. 1 campaign donor, led the donation ceremony. 11 representatives from various companies and individuals contributed a total of 1.1 billion KRW.

To help underprivileged neighbors stay cool this summer, the Busan Community Chest donated 500 million KRW to the Busan Association of Social Welfare Centers, which will distribute summer relief kits to selected beneficiaries through local welfare centers.

This year’s “Our Busan Hopeful Summer ‘Chak! Chak! Chak!’ Sharing Campaign” features new activities including volunteer-led packaging of summer relief kits alongside high-value donors, creating a community-based participatory campaign.

Before the official donation ceremony, volunteers gathered to package and deliver the relief kits, adding symbolic meaning to the act of sharing.
