“Let’s Enjoy the Garden!” – Busan Nakdong River Garden Experience Program in Full Operation

The Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that it will fully operate the “Busan Nakdong River Garden Experience Program” from June to December this year at Samnak Ecological Park.

○ The program has been planned to promote public participation and spread garden culture, laying the foundation for designating the Nakdong River as a National Garden.

The programs are designed as ecological, cultural, and educational experiences that allow anyone—not just citizens—to easily and enjoyably explore gardens. A total of 114 sessions will be held over six months.

○ Programs include ▲Ecological Wetland Kayaking ▲Four-Season Plant Culture Stories ▲Horticultural Therapy with Flowers ▲Winter Migratory Bird Observation, among others. These programs go beyond simple garden viewing, encouraging direct sensory interaction with nature and offering themed activities tailored by age and interest—from young children to seniors.

Applications can be submitted on a first-come, first-served basis through the City’s Integrated Reservation System (reserve.busan.go.kr).

To expand the operation of garden-centered programs, the City plans to strengthen collaboration with local organizations and build operational networks with garden experts, educational institutions, and volunteer groups.

Ahn Cheol-soo, Director General of Busan’s Green City Bureau, stated,
“This garden experience program offers citizens the chance not only to be spectators but to become participants who enjoy, heal, and learn within the garden,”
adding, “We will continue to provide programs through the Nakdong River Garden that bring garden culture closer to citizens' everyday lives.”
