Busan City Conducts 2024 Mining and Manufacturing Survey

The Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that from June 17 to July 21, it will conduct the 2024 Mining and Manufacturing Survey, targeting approximately 4,000 businesses with 10 or more employees operating in the city.

○ The Mining and Manufacturing Survey, conducted annually since 1968 under the supervision of Statistics Korea, aims to understand the structure and distribution of Korea’s economy and its business operations.
To reduce the burden on businesses, the survey is carried out as part of the Integrated Business Survey.

* Integrated Business Survey: Combines 7 types of economic surveys into a single on-site visit (One-Stop Survey) to minimize respondent burden
‣ Mining & Manufacturing, Service Industry, Transportation, Franchise, Business Activity, Mining & Manufacturing Trends, and Service Industry Trends

The survey covers 13 items, including:

– Type of business
– Number of employees
– Shipment value and operating costs
– Tangible assets
– Inventory

It will be conducted through a combination of in-person visits by survey staff and smart methods such as internet and email.

The national results will be published in December 2025, and Busan-specific results in March 2026.

The collected data will serve as foundational material for forming economic policies, calculating Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), and estimating national income statistics by the Bank of Korea, as well as supporting various research and analyses.
