BNK Busan Bank Donates KRW 200 Million Worth of Goods to Vulnerable Populations in Busan

The Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that it will hold a donation ceremony for the “BNK Busan Bank Cool Summer Donation Project” today (June 10) at 3:00 p.m. in the City Hall reception room, in cooperation with BNK Busan Bank (hereinafter “Busan Bank”) and the Busan Community Chest (hereinafter “Community Chest”).

○ The ceremony will be attended by Mayor Park Heong-joon, Busan Bank President Bang Seong-bin, and Community Chest President Lee Soo-tae.

Through the Community Chest, Busan Bank will donate a total of 2,500 electric fans valued at KRW 200 million. Of these, 2,400 units will go to 2,400 vulnerable households and 100 units to 32 communal living facilities for people with disabilities.

○ The recipients will include basic livelihood security beneficiaries and registered communal living facilities for persons with disabilities, as selected through district offices.

Established in 1967, Busan Bank is the representative regional bank of the Busan–Gyeongnam area. Under its corporate philosophy of “Returning profits to the community,” the bank actively pursues a variety of social contribution activities.

○ In 2024, the bank spent KRW 59.9 billion on social contributions — the highest among regional banks nationwide. This includes:
 - KRW 28.7 billion for public interest initiatives such as the Play On Busan cultural performance series, Safe Umbrella Program for children, and Companion to Hospital Service for elderly single households
 - KRW 22.9 billion for inclusive financial services
 - KRW 6.2 billion for cultural, artistic, and sports (mecenat) programs

○ Other activities include support for major Busan events like the Busan International Film Festival and Busan Fireworks Festival, as well as the B-Startup Challenge and environmental initiatives such as eradicating invasive species and planting native flora.

Busan Bank President Bang Seong-bin stated,
“We hope this donation helps provide some relief during the hot summer months,” and added,
“We will continue to engage in sincere social contribution efforts through warm-hearted giving.”
