Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that it is now accepting nominations for the 27th Busan Women’s Award from June 9 through June 30. The award recognizes women who have made significant contributions to gender equality, women's empowerment, and community development.

About the Busan Women’s Award
Established in 1999, the Busan Women’s Award marks its 27th year and is a prestigious award honoring women’s leadership in Busan. A total of 38 women from diverse sectors who have led meaningful social change have been honored so far. This year, the City aims to discover and recognize additional outstanding women who have been instrumental in advancing gender equality and the local community.

Eligibility Criteria

• ●Must have continuously resided in Busan for at least 5 years as of the announcement date

• ●Must have devoted at least 10 years to advancing gender equality, promoting women’s rights, or contributing to community development

• ●Must be recognized as a role model in society through dedication and volunteer service

Selection Process
Candidates will undergo:

• ●Document review

• ●On-site investigation

• ●External expert evaluation

• ●Review by the Award Selection Committee

A total of two recipients will be selected and awarded a plaque at the Gender Equality Week Ceremony scheduled from September 1 to 7, 2025.

How to Nominate
Nominations must be submitted with the required documents either in person or by registered mail to the Gender Equality & Family Affairs Division at Busan City Hall (1001 Jungang-daero, Yeonje-gu, Busan).

Required documents include:

• ●Nomination form

• ●Record of achievements

• ●Consent form for mayoral recognition

• ●Evidence of achievements

• ●List of supporters (if applicable)

Nominations may be submitted by:

• ●District or county mayors

• ●Heads of institutions located in Busan

• ●Leaders of civic or professional organizations

• ●Citizens aged 19 or older with at least 20 joint signatories
