Seven-Beach Earthing Challenge Continues at Ilgwang Beach, the Sixth of Seven Coastal Stops!

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that the sixth event of the “Seven-Beach Earthing Challenge” will be held at Ilgwang Beach on Friday, June 14, at 3:00 p.m., as part of the “Barefoot Walking-Friendly City, Busan” initiative.

The event is co-hosted by Busan Ilbo, Busan Metropolitan Council, Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and BNK Financial Group, and organized by the Busan Barefoot Walking City Movement Headquarters. It is also supported by local enterprises, including BNK Busan Bank, Busan Mirae IFC, and Busan Health Checkup Center.

About the Seven-Beach Earthing Challenge
The Seven-Beach Earthing Challenge is a barefoot walking program that invites citizens to walk along seven major beaches in Busan. Earthing—walking barefoot—goes beyond simple walking, offering a healing experience by connecting participants with the beauty of nature.

The event series began with the “Barefoot Walking-Friendly City” declaration and challenge at Haeundae Beach on April 21, 2024, and has since continued through Gwangalli, Dadaepo, Songjeong, and Imrang Beaches. This sixth edition takes place at Ilgwang Beach.

Event Details
On the day of the event, approximately 1,000 participants will receive an orientation on the course and warm-up stretching before proceeding with the main challenge.

A Medical Center Zone will also be set up, offering health checks such as body composition and brainwave assessments.

The Ilgwang edition of the challenge features a 1.2 km round-trip course that can be walked freely at the participant’s own pace. Unlike previous events, this edition includes a more varied course structure to provide a unique experience.

The course is themed around five phrases:

• ●“Wishing you health”

• ●“No need to rush”

• ●“Walking together”

• ●“Overcoming hardships”

• ●“Stay strong today”

Two highlights include:

• ●“Wishing you health,” where participants walk over acupressure mats

• ●“Overcoming hardships,” which includes a limbo challenge

These are designed to offer participants a novel and engaging earthing experience.

Registration and Participation
Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis via the official website: earthing.busan.com
Participation is free of charge.

All on-site participants will receive commemorative items including bottled water, badges, and shoe pouches.

The final event in this year’s Seven-Beach Earthing Challenge will be held at Songdo Beach.
