Busan City Selects Winners of the “Companion Animal Photo Contest”

The Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that 20 entries have been selected as winners of the 2025 Busan Companion Animal Photo Contest, which aimed to promote pet registration and pet etiquette.

This year’s contest was held for the first time to raise awareness of the obligation to register pets and to reduce social conflict between pet owners and non-owners amid a growing number of households with companion animals.

The contest was open to citizens who own registered pets and submitted original works that had not previously received awards in other competitions.

From May 16 to 23, a total of 137 entries were submitted through an online platform thanks to active participation from citizens. After a strict and fair screening process, 20 entries were selected.

• ●The award prizes are as follows:
  ▲ Grand Prize (1 team): KRW 200,000
  ▲ Gold Prize (1 team): KRW 150,000
  ▲ Silver Prize (2 teams): KRW 120,000 each
  ▲ Bronze Prize (6 teams): KRW 100,000 each
  ▲ Honorable Mention (10 teams): KRW 50,000 each

Meanwhile, an exhibition of the winning works was successfully held on May 30 near South Gate 1 of Busan Citizens Park. These works are also scheduled to be displayed at the “1st Busan Animal Day Event” in October this year.

Ahn Cheol-soo, Director General of Busan’s Green City Bureau, stated,
“We hope that this contest has served as an opportunity to spread a mature companion animal culture and promote harmonious coexistence between pet owners and non-owners,” and added, “We ask for continued interest and participation from our citizens in future events.”
