Busan City Develops Uniform Design for Officials of the National (Para) Sports Festival Reflecting the Spirit of Busan

Busan 2025 National (Para) Sports Festival Meets Homegrown Youth Designer

The Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced the completion of the official uniform designs for the “2025 National (Para) Sports Festival,” developed in collaboration with Busan-born fashion designer Seokwoon Yoon.

The uniform set includes four types for event staff—public officials, Korea Sports Council personnel, event operators, and assistants—and one hat.

The designs incorporate symbols from both the city and the festival, including:

• ●The letter “B”

• ●The torch flame

• ●Fluttering flower petals

These motifs are delicately expressed through premium lace and embroidery, reflecting the intensity and spirit of challenge of the festival, which returns to Busan for the first time in 25 years.

The uniforms will be made from high-quality materials that emphasize warmth, functionality, mobility, and durability, with all production processes subject to strict quality evaluation standards from nationally accredited institutions.

Additionally, the use of geometric diagonal cuts and recycled materials highlights Busan’s identity and promotes a clean and eco-friendly (recycling and sustainable) image.

About Designer Seokwoon Yoon

Seokwoon Yoon, born in Busan in 1988, earned a degree in fashion from Pratt Institute in New York in 2017 and worked at the headquarters of Gap in New York. He currently operates under his self-named brand “SEOKWOON YOON.”

He was selected for Busan’s Youth World-Class Talent Development Project, a program supporting talented young individuals to grow into global leaders. He was also the winner of the Presidential Award at the 2023 Korea Fashion Awards, earning recognition as one of Busan’s most promising designers.

Youth World-Class Talent Development Project: Supports the growth of high-potential youth in Busan by providing up to KRW 300 million annually in capacity-building funds.

Promoting the Uniform

Busan plans to promote the new uniforms with the help of local ambassadors, including:

• ●Singer Jeong Seo-joo (city promotional ambassador)

• ●National fencer Song Se-ra

• ●Baseball prospect Ha Hyun-seung

• ●Football prospect Lee Soo-a

These athletes and talents will model the uniform prototypes to raise awareness and interest in the National (Para) Sports Festival.

The opening ceremony of the 106th National Sports Festival will be held on October 17, 2025, with the closing ceremony on October 23 at the Busan Asiad Main Stadium. The 45th National Para Sports Festival will open on October 31 and close on November 5 at Sajik Indoor Gymnasium. The events will also include themed performances and other attractions for spectators.

Son Tae-uk, Director of the City’s Sports Bureau, stated:

“It is truly meaningful that the official uniforms for the 25th National (Para) Sports Festival—held in Busan after 25 years—were developed in collaboration with a local young designer.
These uniforms will not only instill pride in the staff but also serve as an effective tool to promote the festival.”
