Busan Announces Call for Nominations for the 17th Busan Metropolitan City Social Contribution Awards

The Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced today (June 2) that it will accept nominations for the 17th Busan Metropolitan City Social Contribution Awards for a 7-week period, ending July 18.

Celebrating its 17th year, the Social Contribution Awards aim to discover and honor individuals and groups who have made significant contributions to the advancement of social contribution and donation culture, thereby promoting pride and expanding the value of giving in society.

○ These awards have been granted since 2009 under the Ordinance on the Promotion and Support of Social Contribution in Busan Metropolitan City, which was enacted to strengthen a culture of sharing and to encourage charitable contributions.

Eligible nominees are individuals, organizations, or institutions based in Busan who have contributed to social contribution and donation culture as of May 31, 2025.

A total of six recipients will be selected across three categories—two per category (Grand Award and Merit Award):

▲The Sharing category recognizes those who have mainly contributed through material resources
▲The Serving category recognizes those who have contributed through human resources
▲The Giving category recognizes those who have contributed through a combination of material and human resources

The city will select award recipients through a public nomination process, followed by a thorough review process including document screening by the Social Contribution Working Committee, on-site investigations, and final evaluations by the Social Contribution Committee.

○ Award recipients will receive benefits including free use of public parking lots and authorization to display the social contribution emblem. In the case of corporate awardees, additional benefits and honors will be provided for three years under the Ordinance on Preferential Treatment and Promotion of Business Activities for Entrepreneurs in Busan.

○ This year’s awards ceremony is scheduled to be held during the 2025 Busan Welfare Month Commemoration event in September.

※ Exceptions allowed for special contributions with an attached Statement of Special Merit (Form 5)
