51st Jang Bogo National Rowing Championships to Be Held on May 31 at the West Nakdong River

Busan Metropolitan City Mayor Park Heong-joon announced that the 51st Jang Bogo National Rowing Championships will be held from May 31 to June 8 at the West Nakdong River Rowing & Canoeing Stadium.

The Jang Bogo National Rowing Championships, launched in 1975 to honor the legacy of Maritime King Jang Bogo and to lay the groundwork for Korea’s advancement in international rowing, is widely regarded as the most prestigious rowing competition in the country.

The 51st edition of the event is co-hosted by Busan Metropolitan City and the Korea Rowing Association, and organized by the Busan Rowing Association.

The tournament is divided into:

• ●Division 1 for professional athletes (May 31–June 2), and

• ●Division 2 for amateur and recreational rowers (June 7–8).

Over 620 athletes and staff from across the nation are expected to participate, competing in 79 events across 20 divisions, including:

• ●Eight,

• ●Single Scull,

• ●Coxless Pair,

• ●Indoor Rowing, and more.

Trophies, medals, and certificates will be awarded to the top three finishers in each event, and the overall winning team in each division will receive the Minister of Oceans and Fisheries Award, along with a championship flag and cup.

Kim Hyun-jae, Director-General of the Busan Tourism and MICE Bureau, stated,

“Rowing is a sport that emphasizes teamwork and solidarity.
We hope this event helps expand the popularity of rowing and serves as an opportunity to showcase the charm of Busan as a leading marine leisure and tourism city.”
