Busan City and Busan Public Agency for Social Service to Support the Establishment of Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems in Social Service Institutions

Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that it is working in collaboration with the Busan Public Agency for Social Service (President Yoo Gyu-won) to strengthen crisis management capabilities at 28 social welfare facilities through the 2025 “Support for Establishing Crisis Response Systems in Social Service Institutions” project.

The project will be implemented through October and will provide tailored education and consulting services aimed at improving the crisis response capacity of private social service institutions.

This initiative was developed in response to growing public interest in enhancing safety at social welfare sites, particularly following the enforcement of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act. It aims to support the establishment of preventive, safety-focused management systems to ensure the safety of both workers and users of social service institutions.

The project includes the following components:

• ●Support for establishing safety and health management plans tailored to each institution

• ●Education programs and workshops for responsible personnel

• ●Customized consulting services for each institution

• ●Monitoring of project outcomes and an evaluation session

Yoo Gyu-won, President of the Busan Public Agency for Social Service, stated,
“Social service institutions are primarily used by vulnerable populations such as persons with disabilities and the elderly. Preventing safety accidents is a fundamental duty of these institutions. The safety of staff members is also critically important, and we hope this project will help institutions establish practical crisis response systems.”

Jung Tae-gi, Director General of Busan’s Welfare Bureau, added,
“To create a social service environment that citizens can trust, the City of Busan will work to strengthen public service and build field-oriented safety management systems based on the expertise of the Busan Public Agency for Social Service.”
