The Busan Metropolitan City Government (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced the launch of the “Busan Multi-Child Education Support Points” program in collaboration with the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Kim Seok-jun), marking the first initiative of its kind by a metropolitan government.

• ●The city signed a business agreement with the Office of Education and has been implementing the project since 2024, funded 70% by the city and 30% by the education office.

• ●In 2024, approximately 122,000 multi-child households in Busan received a total of KRW 41.2 billion in support.

• ●Application Period: May 22 (Thu), 2025, 09:00 – December 12 (Fri), 2025, 18:00

• ●How to Apply: Dongbaekjeon App > Policy Fund Application > Multi-Child Education Support Points

• ●Eligibility: Busan-based households with at least one child born between 2007 and 2018

• ●Support Amount: Once annually
  ▶ 2 children: KRW 300,000
  ▶ 3 or more children: KRW 500,000

• ●Usable At: Local bookstores, designated online bookstores, arts and sports education facilities, study rooms, and stores selling stationery, printing, and copying services

Any multi-child household in Busan with at least one child of school age (born between 2007 and 2018) is eligible for support, regardless of income or property status.

• ●However, applicants must have resided in Busan for at least three months prior to applying, based on resident registration.

The points will be issued through Dongbaekjeon, Busan's local currency platform, and can be used at merchants related to educational expenses.

• ●This includes bookstores, study cafés, arts and sports training centers, and swimming pools (for survival swimming lessons), among others.

• ●Additionally, for convenience, online purchases are allowed at four designated online bookstores: Kyobo Bookstore, Aladin, Youngpoong Bookstore, and Yes24.

• ●Note: Points cannot be used at academic institutions for core subjects (e.g., Korean, English, Math), in line with the city's commitment to strengthening public education.

Applications can be submitted through the Dongbaekjeon mobile app from 9:00 AM on May 22 until 6:00 PM on December 12.

• ●If the applicant and the child(ren) are registered in the same household, points are issued immediately. If not, points are issued sequentially after verifying family relationships.

This year, thanks to integration with the public MyData service, even applicants requiring additional screening can complete the process online without submitting extra documents.

• ●Applicants without a mobile device under their name or using a 2G phone can call the Busan Multi-Child Education Support Points Call Center at ☎ 1660-2206 for assistance.

Kim Gui-ok, Director of Busan's Youth and Academic Affairs Bureau, stated,
“This initiative was designed to provide practical relief for families with school-age children facing increasing education costs. The City of Busan will continue to work closely with the Office of Education to create a zero-burden environment for parents and establish Busan as a city where raising and educating children is truly supported.”
