Busan to Host “2025 Busan Enjoy English Zone”

Mayor Park Heong-joon of Busan Metropolitan City announced that the “2025 Busan Enjoy English Zone” will be held on May 24, offering citizens an opportunity to enjoy learning and experiencing English firsthand.

This event is part of Busan’s initiative to become an “English-Friendly City” and is linked with the 20th Busan Global Citizen Festival. It will be held on the main stage and outdoor plaza of the Busan Cinema Center, featuring a variety of English experience programs open to all.

The Busan Enjoy English Zone will host several English experience booths, including:
– A special live broadcast of All-Star English by Busan e-FM (BeFM)
– “Let’s Play with English” hands-on activity zone
– “Storytime with Boogi”
– English immigration simulation
– English level tests for children

Participation is available on-site on the day of the event (May 24).

The special live broadcast of All-Star English by BeFM, themed “Hello, World! Let’s Be Friends,” will take place on the main stage of the Cinema Center from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.

Participants include comedian Lee Sang-hoon, Campbell Asia, MC Shin Min-su, Boogi (Busan City’s communication mascot), singer Aron, and rapper YunB.

At the outdoor plaza, from 11:00 AM to 5:30 PM, visitors can enjoy:
– “Let’s Play with English” (interactive program with native speakers)
– “Storytime with Boogi”
– English immigration simulation
– Children’s English level test

“Let’s Play with English” will be held in four sessions from 11:30 AM to 4:20 PM (each session: 50 minutes). Popular among parents, this hands-on native English education program allows participants to experience “Making with English” with native-speaking instructors.

Other highlights include English story activities with Boogi, immigration simulation experiences, and English level testing programs for children.

Kim Gui-ok, Director of the Youth & Industrial-Academic Support Bureau of Busan, stated:

“This Busan Enjoy English Zone has been designed to make English fun and engaging, like a game and a part of daily life.
We hope citizens can enjoy English not as a difficult subject, but as something exciting and approachable.”

She added,

“We will continue our efforts to create an environment where all generations can naturally encounter and use English, and grow Busan into a truly English-friendly city.”
