A Special Festival Blending the Passion and Dreams of Youth! 12th Busan Youth Open Festival to Be Held

To celebrate Youth Month in May, Mayor Park Heong-joon of Busan Metropolitan City announced that the 12th Busan Youth Open Festival, a participatory festival where youth take center stage, will be held at Noeum Plaza (City Hall) on May 17 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

The event is hosted and organized by the City of Busan and the Busan Youth Activity Promotion Center, with support from the Busan Metropolitan Council and Busan Metropolitan Office of Education.

The Busan Youth Open Festival is a comprehensive event designed to celebrate the dreams, passion, challenges, and growth of young people. It aims to provide a platform for youth to fully express their creativity through cultural and artistic activities, encourage autonomous club participation, and promote healthy development.

Marking its 12th year, the festival will be joined by approximately 1,000 attendees, including youth, their families, and youth leaders. The event will feature a Youth Month Commemorative Ceremony, Y-STAR Singing Contest, interactive booths, and activity zones offering a variety of performances and programs.

The Youth Month Commemorative Ceremony, held on a special stage in Noeum Plaza, will include:

• ●The declaration of Busan’s youth policy brand name

• ●Recognition of outstanding contributors to youth development

• ●The 11th Y-STAR Singing Contest Finalists

• ●A celebration performance by the youth band brown alga

A notable highlight of the ceremony will be the unveiling of the official brand name representing Busan’s youth policy.

To encourage youth participation, the City conducted an online naming contest in March and April, receiving over 1,000 entries. The final name was selected through two rounds of screening.

In the Outstanding Contributor Awards, a total of 27 individuals and groups will be recognized, including:

• ●21 exemplary youth

• ●2 youth leaders

• ●1 public official

• ●3 contributing organizations

During the Y-STAR Singing Contest, finalists who passed preliminary rounds held in April will showcase their talents on stage.

Additionally, over 30 experience booths will be available on topics such as environment, health, and happiness. These activities are open to all citizens, not just youth. The activity zone will feature:

• ●Traditional games

• ●Youth participation campaigns

Experience booths include programs such as:

• ●Health promotion activities

• ●MBTI personality tests

• ●1-on-1 dance lessons

• ●Reels & Shorts video content creation

• ●Major and career experience programs

• ●Nail art

• ●Forensic science

• ●Experiential sex education, and more.

Busan Women & Family Bureau Director Seol-yeon Park stated:
