Busan Metropolitan City to Host “Pet Photography Contest”

Mayor Park Heong-joon of Busan Metropolitan City announced that the city will host the 2025 Pet Photography Contest to promote pet registration and raise awareness of proper pet etiquette.

This contest is being held for the first time in response to the growing number of pet owners. It aims to raise awareness about mandatory pet registration and help ease social conflicts between pet owners and non-owners.

Anyone who owns a registered companion animal and submits their own original work that has not won an award in any other contest may participate.

From May 16 (Fri) to May 23 (Fri), applicants can download the necessary forms from the city’s website announcement section (www.busan.go.kr/nbgosi), then submit their application and entry via email to turk77@korea.kr.

The selected winning entries (20 in total) will be exhibited at the South Gate of Busan Citizens Park on May 30. They will also be used in upcoming promotional campaigns encouraging pet registration.

◈ Awards:
▲ Grand Prize (1) – KRW 200,000
▲ Gold Prize (1) – KRW 150,000
▲ Silver Prize (2) – KRW 120,000 each
▲ Bronze Prize (6) – KRW 100,000 each
▲ Honorable Mentions (10) – KRW 50,000 each

A total of KRW 1.69 million in prize money will be awarded, along with certificates of merit.

Ahn Cheol-soo, Director General of Busan’s Green City Bureau, stated,
“We expect this contest to promote a more mature culture of pet ownership and encourage harmonious coexistence between pet owners and non-owners. We ask for the interest and participation of many citizens.”
