1st Lineup of the “2025 Busan International Rock Festival” Announced

The Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) has announced the first wave of 20 performers for the “2025 Busan International Rock Festival,” which will take place from September 26 to 28 at Samnak Ecological Park.

○ First launched in 2000, the Busan International Rock Festival is Korea’s longest-running international rock music festival, celebrating its 26th anniversary this year.

The initial lineup includes top-tier artists such as:
▲ The Smashing Pumpkins, a leading American alternative rock band
▲ Babymetal, performing in Korea for the first time officially
▲ Porter Robinson, known for his dynamic performances
▲ Korea’s own unique rock band, Guckkasten

○ Debuting in 1990, The Smashing Pumpkins—icons of 1990s American rock—will finally perform in Busan. Babymetal, who opened for Metallica in 2017, will make their first-ever Korean festival appearance.

○ Other notable acts include:

• ●Porter Robinson (USA), who blends band elements with energetic, trendsetting sound

• ●Slot Machine (Thailand), one of Thailand’s most popular bands

• ●Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra (Japan), who performed at the Tokyo Olympics closing ceremony

• ●Thornapple (Korea), known for their explosive energy and emotional sound

The “Road to BU-ROCK” pre-concert series, which tours across the country to build excitement for the main event, is in full swing.

○ This year, the tour expanded internationally and gained global attention.

○ Starting in Seoul in March and continuing in Busan in April, it was also successfully held in Taipei, Taiwan on May 1 and 2, further boosting anticipation for the festival.

○ On June 21–22, the Japanese band SPYAIR, which lit up the 2023 and 2024 Busan International Rock Festival, will return to Korea for “Road to BU-ROCK – Seoul.”

In addition, the annual “Rookies on the BU-ROCK” competition, which discovers and supports talented emerging artists, will open applications in May.

Early bird tickets for the festival, which offer discounted access, went on sale yesterday (May 13) on Yes24 Ticket (ticket.yes24.com) and sold out within one minute—proving the festival's immense popularity.

○ The limited 3-day pass was offered at a 20% discount from the regular price, priced at KRW 193,600.
