Cultivating Future-Oriented Citizens! “2025 Busan Citizens’ College” to Launch — Registration Opens Tomorrow (12th)

The Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced the launch of the “2025 Busan Citizens’ College” in May, aimed at nurturing future-oriented citizens.

Busan Citizens’ College is a program that supports citizens in continuously developing their personal competencies through advanced lifelong learning. The program will be delivered in collaboration with nine local universities* and the Busan Women and Family & Lifelong Education Promotion Foundation to provide systematic and high-quality education.

* Participating universities: Busan Arts College, Dong-Eui University, Tongmyong University, Kyungnam College of Information & Technology, Catholic University of Pusan, Hwasin Cyber University, Busan University of Foreign Studies, Pukyong National University, Busan Digital University

• ●The program will be conducted over two semesters (spring and fall), each lasting 10 weeks, for a total of 20 weeks.

• ●Participating universities will provide Citizens’ College students access to educational facilities such as libraries and study rooms under the same conditions as enrolled students.

The main curriculum consists of 20 courses across seven fields: ▲Culture & Tourism ▲Lifestyle ▲Digital Tech ▲Finance ▲Biohealth ▲English & Liberal Arts ▲Certification Programs, offering education equivalent to that of university majors.

• ●Notably, the City has structured the courses to align with its future development strategies, including its nine strategic industries and initiatives like building an English-friendly city.

Additionally, the City will confer an “Honorary Citizen’s Degree” to participants who complete over 100 hours of coursework through the Citizens’ College.

• ●This honorary degree, issued under the name of the Mayor of Busan, is an unofficial certification and is planned to be awarded in the first half of next year.

All courses are offered free of charge, though students are responsible for any material costs incurred depending on the nature of the classes.

Registration for courses will begin tomorrow (May 12) on a first-come, first-served basis. Interested citizens can apply through the official website (부산시민대학.kr).
