The Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Heong-joon) announced that it will host a variety of large-scale sports events throughout May for all citizens to enjoy, in celebration of “May: Month of Sports for All.”

○ Through a total of 11 sporting events – including the BIG 5 Sports Festa in Busan, a national tournament featuring the top 5 most popular sports with participants from all over the country – Busan aims to strengthen its image as a paradise for sports and contribute to improving citizens' health.

The City is launching the BIG 5 Sports Festa in Busan, a bold project for establishing Busan as a hub for everyday sports.

○ “BIG 5” combines “BIG” from “Busan Is Good” and the number “5” representing the five most popular sports.

The inaugural BIG 5 Sports Festa in Busan will feature around 5,000 sports enthusiasts from across the country, competing in:

*Aerobics Hip-Hop: A genre combining aerobic exercise with the rhythmic moves of hip-hop dance.

To ensure the success of these events, the City will actively promote the sports brand slogan “Busan Is All About Sports!” through banners and photo zones, and will enhance public excitement with promotional videos and social media coverage.

○ Moving forward, May will be officially designated as “Month of Sports for All” annually, and the event lineup will expand into a comprehensive sports festival, further strengthening the foundation of local sports culture.
