Busan City has announced that it will increase the metro fare by 100 won on May 1, 2017. The metro fare (adult, by transportation card, one section) will increase from 1,200 won to 1,300 won.

Busan City decided to increase the metro fare at the city’s price policy commission meeting on March 27, 2017. The decision was made in order to improve management and to solve the Busan Transportation Corporation’s deficit.

The new metro fares will go into effect at 4 a.m. on May 1, 2017.

The last metro fare increase was in November 2013.

Busan City and the Korean Railroad Corporation reached the agreement to apply the same fares for the Busan metro and the Donghae Line, which opened in December 2016. Therefore, the fare of the Donghae Line (Bujeon – Ilgwang) will increase by 100 won too starting on May 1, 2017.
