The 9th Busan Mackerel Festival takes place from October 14 to 16 around the Songdo Beach area.
Mackerel,
the city fish of Busan, is in season in the autumn. Visitors can taste
variously cooked mackerel at the festival.

The
festival begins with a street parade on Oct. 14 at 4:00 p.m. and fireworks
show, celebratory performances are scheduled to be held at Songdo Beach beginning
at 6:00 p.m.
From
Oct. 15 – 16, visitors can enjoy various events including catching mackerel,

The
13th Busan Chinatown Culture Festival is being held from Oct. 14 to
16 at Busan Station Square, Chinatown in Dong-gu.
The
opening ceremony of the festival will be held at Busan Station square starting
with a street parade from the Statue of Admiral Jeong Bal to Busan Station
square on Oct. 14 at 3:30 p.m.
Visitors
can walk through a tunnel with about 5,000 lit Chinese red lanterns, made in
Chinatown, and symbolize good fortune.
Visitors
can also enjoy various cultural performances, observe Korean and Chinese
traditions and try local foods around Busan Station square and Chinatown during
the festival.
Chinese
restaurants located in Chinatown offer a 10 percent discount on their menu and jajangmyeon
(noodles in black bean sauce) for the price of 4,000 won.
