Busan City opened the Busan VR∙AR Convergence Center to promote the virtual reality (VR)/ augmented reality (AR) industry at BEXCO in Haeundae on March 21st.

The Busan VR∙AR Convergence Center, located on the 1st floor of BEXCO with an area of 1,070, supports VR and AR related facilities, equipment and education. It works as a one-stop center for planning, producing, demonstrating, experiencing and learning about VR and AR related products and content. It is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Monday to Sunday except public holidays (closed for lunch from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.)

The Center plans to provide programs to discover and assist VR and AR startups, and hold VR and AR related exhibitions and technology seminars. The Center has already been operating VIVE-X - HTC's own nurturing program for discovering VR startups, cooperating with the Taiwanese virtual reality technology pioneer HTC.

Busan VR Festival 2017 is scheduled to be held this coming June and aims to integrate VR and AR technologies with other industries, including film, visual media, game, marine and shipbuilding, and to help establish start-up companies.

Through the integration of AR/VR technologies, the center aims to advance the current state of the industries into future growth engines with global competitiveness.
