Korea’s longest skywalk on the water was completed and opened to the public at Songdo Beach on June 1, 2016.
A
365-meter-long skywalk with 2.3 meter wide and 9.3 meter high is complete. The
104-meter-long skywalk was opened to the public as part of a project that began
last June. Visitors will be able to see the ocean under their feet, through
floors made of tempered glass. Along with the fun and thrilling experience of
walking above the water, visitors will also be treated to the beautiful scenery
around Songdo Beach.
The
beauty of the skywalk is a naturally curved path, like a dragon flying over the
sea, not like other straight lined skywalks in Korea. It comes from the legend
of Geobukseom Island at Songdo Beach about a young fisherman and the daughter
of the dragon king of the sea.
Since
2012, Seo-gu has been working on the project to establish Songdo Beach as an
area where all generations can relax and have fun all year round. As part of
the project, the Songdo Skywalk was built and the Songdo ocean park is schedule
to be completed next May.
