Busan
Metropolitan City and Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone (BJFEZ) Authority have
signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of the Busan campus
with Lancaster University of England, at Busan City Hall on March 6, 2017. The
signing ceremony included BJFEZ’s Commissioner Jin Yang-hyun, Suh Byung-soo,
Busan Mayor and Professor Steve Bradley, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Lancaster
University.
The
Busan campus plans to open in the Myeongji global campus town in September 2019
and offer undergraduate, graduate and management courses specializing in
finance, management and logistics.
The
Financial Times ranks Lancaster University's international management course
the fifth in the world and its MBA corporate strategy program ranked first in
the world in 2015 and 2016. The Times has named Lancaster University the top
university in North West England for nine years in a row and ranked its
research capability first in the nation for the fourth consecutive year. The
university has been increasing its global reach by offering joint degree
courses with universities in China and Malaysia, and establishing its campuses
overseas.
By
attracting top overseas universities, the Myeongji global campus establishment
project has gathered momentum and Myeongji international new city, as the key
district of Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone, has become an international
business city.
